Introduction
A major component of the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America's (ACRIA) mission is to conduct research aimed at improving the healthcare of people living with HIV/AIDS and which will contribute to reductions in new HIV infections. Since 1991, ACRIA has had productive collaborations with prominent researchers, physicians and community-based clinics across the United States to conduct innovative protocols in pursuit of this mission. In addition to the over half dozen drugs that we've worked on to receive FDA approval, ACRIA has sponsored ground breaking independent research on such vital areas as side effects management for antiretroviral medications so that patients can better tolerate and maintain critical drug regimens. ACRIA's medical research agenda has adapted over the years to pursue behavioral and epidemiology questions as well.
